There are just so many of them to keep up with and reading all the announcement is very time consuming. Does anyone know of a place to get a list of the change with the date it goes in to effect?

Here are the ones I know:

35 cent 30 day Fixed price listing change - 9/16/08
No more money orders/checks - late October.
Shipping rate must be quoted - late August - like this week maybe???

Are there other important dates I've missed?

There's a bunch of 'em...

November 1st - Sellers with ANY DSR lower than 4.3 won't be able to list anymore

October 5th - shipping caps on some media categories

October 1st - free subtitle if you offer free shipping (whoop-de-doo..)

Late October - Return Policies and handling time fields will be required (this one wasn't publicized much at all!)

Here's a link to a checklist:

Oh... and here's one more date for you...

Late October... when all the changes are made... the LAST day I ever sell on eBay!!! (I'm really looking forward to being done!)

That covers all that I'm aware of - could they make this any more confusing?!

They stated in the change forum that you actually have until January 9th to make some of the changes to all of your listings (before they start taking them down) but I don't see that on the checklist. If you don't make changes by the dates on the checklist, it probably would be a good idea to make sure you have a backup of your listings (Vendio or TL) so that if they do get yanked you can recreate them easily.

January 15th - the day they start "insisting" on the removal of other than PP payment terms.

I am stripping my item descriptions for all new listings. I am not going to include shipping and handling or acceptable payment types in the description. Buyers can get that information at the bottom of the listings from eBay. Maybe I will change my FAQs (for Ask Seller a Question) to cover those points.

Like my vintagead friend, I too, am closing everything on eBay. Everyday I close the ads that are ending that day. Either store them for fixed price in October or add to one of my online stores. Will be closing the eBay store soon.

Two new businesses: Vintage Ad Wear...if you can't make history, wear it!

AND, thanks to Piximom we have a line of vintage ad and art deco/too cute children tiles for bathroom, kitchen backsplash, etc.

eBay will be a place we use for marketing. Instead we will be diversifying our product line and hopefully be wholesaling by the first of the year.

Still will have a presence on vendio on tho!

Good luck to everyone as we all venture into uncharted water.

Beth,

Best of luck to you! My vintage ad business actually increased (significantly!) as a result of leaving eBay. I'm sure you'll be able to succeed as well! Your new business ideas sound great (too much work for me... I'm busy enough cutting up magazines and taking pictures!) I think you'll be very successful with them, though! Once you get some sites up, let me know, and I'll be glad to send any of my interested customers your way. Heck, maybe we can find some good way to do some cross-marketing and help each other out. That's one good thing about old ads... there's so many of them, one seller can't possibly carry everything! I'd much rather send customers directly to you than to eBay if I don't have something! Let me know if I can do anything to help you navigate the uncharted waters!

Are these up and running now? I'd love to see what you have.

Good Lord, I leave for 2 months and PHOW! ebay has changed the playing field AGAIN! While this comes as no surprise to me,it does futher underline my decision to make my home on the web elsewhere. I will no doubt USE ebay during the holidays, but full time year round... not me. Gosh you have to have a lawyer to sit next to you while forming templates for ebay now. I have written to my Congressman about this as I really do see it as an anti-trust issue.I urge everyone small sellers, or large to do the same.

zippy: right now we are just pushing small orders here in S. Texas/Houston. Hopefully by the first of the year we will have all the processes down to begin wholesaling.
