There is one good thing that came out of the new FB system.

Like Ebay states, a buyer will not worry now to leave a true FB for a dishonest seller.

Now buyers can leave a Neg for a seller that is not honest and who rips a buyer off with FREE SHIPPING and tons of large handling fees it is making the new FB system work.

A buyer, especially one that is a seller also will not get a neg back for saying what is true and leaving a neg to the seller. If everyone does this plus make a complaint to Ebay then that seller will become unregistered seller and we will get rid of sellers that are only here to rip off buyers.

With the old FB system a buyer would not leave a neg so it didn't give a true picture of how this seller really is.

I have been buying alot lately and it's a nightmare being a buyer.

Here is a seller from China who lists shipping FREE and gets into the top search and has the following star rating

Criteria Average rating Number of ratings

Item as described 4.0
Communication 3.8
Shipping time 3.9
Shipping and handling charges 3.2

They sell under 2 other names and are unregistered with these two names but the name that is still active has the above DSR rating and there items show up on the top of search because of Free shipping and low starting bid. They misrepresent each item they sell and charge over 25.00 for handling fees.

It's sellers like this that will now get taken off ebay since buyers can now be honest with feedback. And also report these sellers.

dont worry, they will come back with another ID,they bave one billion to choose from.
But most bidders take shipping, handling and insurance into consideration,I dont know why you are whining esp you are buying from them to resell, you should know better. How can anyone make money selling at one penny with free shipping?
If I am reading you correctly, you said you have bought mucho from the Chinese sellers to resell?

hwahwa, ,I dont know why you are whining esp you are buying from them to resell, you should know better

I was not buying for reselling, that is not the type of merchandise I sell. Please don't assume what and why I'm doing something. If you want to know just ask me and I'm not whining I'm just stating what I see as a fact.

I bought from them this one time because I wanted to see for myself how they could advertise a 14K necklace for 3.00 ...even with the high handling fee. People buy over and over from sellers like this and none of them were giving a true FB until the New fb came into the system. It shows you how they all were worried about getting a Neg in return for them leaving a Neg.

So I'm glad about the New FB system I think it will be better for us Sellers and as well as for our buyers.

To bad that my post blows your mind to the point of name calling. If your a good seller you wouldn't be so upset. And if you don't like the new Fb system then leave ebay but don't take your frustration out on me.

This is a place to voice your opinions not name calling.

I could say what I want weather you like reading it or not is not my concern.

My point was I don't think buyers left true honest FB for sellers until the new FB system.

If your a good seller you should not be worried about the new fb system. The only good thing now is that we get to see the true picture of how a seller does business.

Bregmanl,

Whether or not I agree with tonimar1's view of the new FB system, he does make sense (i.e., his position is consistent with the evidence he reports of its different effects with dishonest sellers' feedback). Whether or not there is evidence of other effects that are less positive for feedback accuracy, well, that's what makes horse races.

Your calling him a name says more about you than him. I know that you're relatively new here (at 54 posts), but just so you know, we (most of us anyway) don't like name calling. We do have a fair number of snarky comments, but those are declining in frequency also.

PS

Just to illustrate the difference, my pointing out tonimar's spelling errors would be snarky. My calling you an idiot would be name calling.

Tonimar,

I have trouble remembering people's REAL persona and gender, so I use he in the more "generic" sense. I will try to remember in the future by remembering that you have an "i" in Toni rather than a "y".

I just turned 57 today. My memory has always been quirky, and gets more so every day. My apologies for getting it wrong, and I'll throw in a few apologies for the future, where I might well get it wrong again.

So, what's the score now? I make it Snarky: 2 Name-calling: 1.

Thanks Toni.

In my family, we usually don't give presents for adults, but today my kids gave me a Nikon D700 camera. Of course, in real life we pay for it, and my wife knows that I know where to get the best prices (BTW, have you used MS LiveSearch? Saved me $$$ on an item that's barely discounted). So, I ordered it today.

The genesis of this is that I missed quite a few potentially great photos in Alaska because 1) my camera's low light performance and 2) the lack of a longer telephoto. I (casually) mentioned that, since we're taking so many wonderful vacations with so many visual delights, we should really get a better camera and/or lenses. Plant a seed, water it, and it will grow I'm beyond excited.

Happy Birthday Cash! We are the same age (ok I am a few months older). Great present! I used to get vouchers from my kids for things like "do the dishes when asked without argument" but they stopped those when they realized that "no argument" was a deal breaker.

The new feedback system seems to be working to eliminate crummy sellers.
I was given a Neg by a seller with really bad feedback a few weeks ago. The neg disappeared, came back, and disappeared again about a week ago. Hasn't reappeared since. Hope he's gone forever.

Have a Happy Birthday, Cash!

By the way, I hope your kids saved the receipt for your Nikon D700.

If you take a few eBay related pictures with your new camera, you should be able to use your Nikon D700 as a tax deduction when tax time rolls around next April.

Just sayin'.....

Northwoodsguy, Hey, that's not a bad idea. Don't I need eBay related income every few years to make it work?

No I didn't know about this search but I will check it out.

The Nikon D700 sounds like a great camera and not bulky for travel. Enjoy your Gift.

Thanks everyone for your birthday wishes. Having spent a lot of time at the gym and riding my bike recently, I can honestly say that I feel better than I have in probably 10 years. I say I'm fat but fit, my trainer is a gentler soul, and says that fit comes in all sizes. Knock wood, I hope to see my children grown and knock wood again, some grandchildren.

PS Tonimar, I seem to have hijacked your thread. Sorry.

I'm excited about the D700 because it seems to hit a sweet spot: professional enough but light, small(ish), and "affordable."

The low light performance is STUNNING. I've seen photos at 6,400 ISO that are clean and clear. Even at 25,600 ISO (that's not a typo, it's for real), shots lit only by candlelight are fine.
