Jay Senese was the first to notice this, I think.

Over a million listings right now, with 29 million yet to come.

"We're in the midst of launching our entire 30 million card inventory to our EBAY store. Check back often as we're literally adding thousands of cards a day."

I hope they are getting special pricing from eBay but I don't think their sales are high enough ($40,000/month according to Seller Dome). If not, their fees are going to KILL them with average sales price of $3.13. I hope they have the staff to handle it or it's going to be one big mess.

A million listings, that is just crazy! Besides the fact that is $30,000 a month just to carry the inventory, you are also at the mercy of ebay. Over the past few years, store listings went from 5˘ to 2˘ to 5˘ to 3˘ - I believe that stores are going to be strongly de-emphasized over the next year or so to get people to the 30 day fixed priced listing. With all the uncertainty, hard to build a business plan.

I would think they're getting a buy.com type of special.

I would hope so but I don't think they have the $ amount in sales to earn it. Their FB ranks below Fluffy's and mine (and over 7,000 other ebay sellers). I am sure that will change but I wonder if they have to get the sales up there to qualify and prove they can handle the volume in fulfilling their orders - or do they already have a huge websites doing a huge quantity of orders (and if so, why would they need ebay)?

AHA! They are listing STORE FORMAT only:
Ina's blog:
'Burbank Sportscards to Launch 30 Million Listings to eBay
By: Ina Steiner

Burbank Sportscards has 884,862 listings on eBay and plans to launch its entire 30 million-card inventory. While that exceeds Buy.com's inventory of 739,473 listings on eBay, there is a major difference: Burbank Sportscards cards are in Store inventory format, meaning its cards only show up on Store searches or at the bottom of core search results.

It is also cheaper to list in Stores versus the core platform. However, eBay cut a special deal with Buy.com, whom many suspect pays no listing fees for its fixed-price inventory on core.

According to Burbank Sportscards' About Me page, it has an inventory of 35 million cards, of which 1.2 million are unique. "Our goal over the course of 2008 is to bring our staggering inventory to this EBAY store and delight collectors the world over with the very best possible selection of singles that fit with the unique style of your collection. And we’re going to offer this selection with the best possible shipping and handling deals anywhere."

Burbank Sportscards uses Beckett Channel Integration (BCI), "a multi-channel inventory management tool that allows users to keep track of products across their Beckett Marketplace, eBay store and in-store Kiosk."

Sellers in the sports card category may be wondering if Burbank Sportscards will become eligible for Diamond-level PowerSeller status, which would allow it to negotiate fees one-on-one with eBay for listing on the core platform. If so, expect a major disruption in the category similar to what happened when Buy.com flooded certain core categories.

EBay is buying listings to impress Wall Street with their increase in auction count. I'm sure they are listing for next to nothing.

Wow - maybe I shouldn't do math before coffee, but even at $.03/listing, store fees would be $900,000/month on 30,000,000 listings. Maybe they are testing ebay's new store pricing (whatever it is).

The economy is tanking, better unload these cards now before they become worth 'less' and worthless! if there is a global depression!
In a deflationary environment, the buying power of cash goes up,one dolar may buy you a chicken!

And most of the listings will probably be Dutch listings...

may be they negotiated a fixed fee for so many listings per month?
Did they print these cards themselves, why would anyone hold that many cards in inventory?

They are listing 30 million cards, not creating 30 million listings. If their average listing contained 30 cards, then they would have 1 million listings.

Netflix is reporting lower revenue and lowering their guidance going forward.
May be instead of watching movies,we will all bid on sports cards on Ebay?
I dont care whether it is one million listings or 32 million cards, they are very bad inventory manager.
