I am listing women's jeans - They are used jeans - It asks for a UPC code and I do not have one. Also, what part, exactly, is needed for the 'Bottom' field. Is this the bottom of the jean? What part of the jean do I need to be measuring?

I can't answer your question about the UPC, but I'm pretty sure the "bottom" of the jeans refers to the width of the bottom leg hem.

i contacted ebay ,they said the upc did not have to be filled out ,but when i asked about the bottums ,they thought it was the cuffs, but i think this is incorrect.
If ebay reps don't know WHO DOES........

You cant expect an individual to know everything, she could have asked you why you dont know everything about jeans?since you are the one who is selling it and making that $$.
Why not call Ebay and ask to speak to the 'jean 'dept or better ask for Jean!

Now,you just remind me to say No to a friend of mine who wants me to sell his old torn worn jeans for $200.
He is too good to list it on Ebay,so he thinks I should do it for him.

AQMAY - can you just put boot cut, bell bottoms or something like that?

I believe ebay has gone way over the top with their new item specific in some categories.
I just listed about 15 pairs of ladies designer shoes and I mean REALLY how many times do you need to say what size, color, shade and pattern they are?? Some of the information they want, if not given, will cause the auction not to list.
After you fill out one section, you go down and there are the same questions again.
I think the shade of color is going to get many seller's in trouble. After all what I think is baby blue, you may call sky blue??

eBay and PP loose a ton of money every day when buyers return stuff as do we not tons of course, I'm guessing this nit picking and detailing descriptions is a cya (for eBay) to reduce returns. Even if the reduction is small 10% or less its cash going into eB and PP pockets and us as well.
I do no returns, buyer unhappy enough to email me through eB gets a refund no questions.
Listing stuff is real pain with all the blocks to check hoops to jump through. Every thing I list is different and sometimes I spend an hour or more on something that might net me 10-20 bucks if it sells.
Taking the summer off!

Yes,Ebay spent time and money reviewing cases and issue free return shipping labels.
Since Eaby acquired a company which helps retail store set up website and perform fullfillment services,it is just a matter of time these websites would be integrated into the big Ebay site .
This is already done on AMZN,but AMZN has an interesting feature -most of their items have either an ISBN or manufacturing serial number so if you have a copy of book,DVD,VHS tape,Weber grill,Sony Tv set,you can list along side with AMZN,retail stores and other individual sellers FREE.
But say if you have a small handcarved figurine or a generic version of a brand product, not knockoff but just no brand name or a homemade hankie or jewelry and if you dont have a merchant account (39.95 a month),then you cannot list it,there is just no place to list that item.
I am wondering if this will be the case with Ebay,it is a way of thinning out the sellers, there are too many sellers and most of the squabbles come from small sellers who sell whatever they can find versus the more established seasoned individuals with good merchandise or worse, the brick and mortar stores which have mint in box merchandise ordered from manufacturers.
By thinning out the seller crowd, the remaining sellers would enjoy a higher sell through rate, better margin, therefore be able to procure better merchandise, offer better customer service etc etc.

Small niche sellers were on the frontline of eBays growth. I don't think eBay wants to cast us little people out, they just want us to offer the same return policy across the board as just about anyone else doing retail and most do. I have read whines from big sellers about returns.
My small seller story!
Not long ago I had a pair of chrome cowel lights for sale still in the original box. The lights were for a 1930's era Ford. The high bid was two bucks under my reserve. I emailed the bidder for a 2nd chance offer. They were delighted and paid the reserve price. A couple weeks later I get a thank you card in the mail and tucked inside the card were two 20 dollar bills as a tip. Also had a customer send me flowers and many thank you emails.
You don't get that kind of responce when you sell a CD or a big screen tv!
