On Sept. 6, eBay is expanding usable auction title characters from 55 to 80. Vendio, are you changing your software to accommodate this? Below are a couple of recent notices from eBay on this change:

•Get 25 EXTRA characters in your title to draw more buyers to your listings. A good title is key to establishing the relevance of your listing to a buyer’s search—and some products require more words than others to get in front of the right buyers. Starting the first week in September, you’ll have almost 50% more space for your titles, with the maximum number of characters increased from 55 to 80. Increase your visibility with more relevant keywords and buyer-attracting descriptors.

Here's an e-mail notification with a date correction:

Dear (my name):

A recent email reminder we sent you about the Fall Seller Update included an incorrect date. Please note that you'll be able to start adding 25 extra characters to your listing titles on Tuesday, September 6, not September 1 as stated in the email.

We apologize for any inconvenience. As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Sincerely,

eBay Seller Team

That will be a big help in searches.
Also, many people don't realize that the Item Specifics are also in the searches.

well, the bigger problem on Ebay is competition, too many sellers selling too many goods,so if all sellers use the 25 characters to add more searchable words, then there is no improvement .
Once people all use slow mail to conduct business, then comes fax ,then comes email then comes cell phone, iphone text messaging,so there is no competitive edge.
we are all in the same boat

It appears that the 80 characters is up and running on eBay but I can't list through Vendio with 80.

Hello,

Yes, eBay has it live on their web based Sell Your Item form already. We are just waiting for them to release support for it in the API (what we and things like Turbolister use) to offer support for it here. All the files are ready to go, so once they offer it there (the API) we will make it available here as well.

Regards,
Chris

Will you be posting a notice when the API is up and running?

Until it is up and running, you can go in and revise your auction titles after the listing is started. I know...it's a pain, but an option if you really want a longer title.
