To keep eBay safe, we regularly check account activity in the eBay and PayPal Buyer Protection programs. We're writing to let you know that your account is close to going over the limits for opening cases with sellers. Here are some tips to help reduce the number of cases you open:

-- You have 45 days from when you paid to open a case. If you haven't received an item, please wait to open a case until after the estimated delivery date found on the "Order details" page. If no estimated delivery date was given, please wait until 7 days have passed after payment.
-- Items shipped internationally take longer to arrive. Not only do they need to travel farther, but they must clear customs when they arrive in the country.
-- You should contact the seller first before opening a case. You don't need to open a case to communicate with the seller. You can find the seller's contact information by using the "Ask a question" link in the listing or by following the steps here:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/contact.html

No changes have been made to your account at this time. However, if a pattern of high case activity continues, you could be removed from eBay Buyer Protection, no longer able to buy items, or suspended from eBay.

You can review the eBay Buyer Protection policy here:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/buyer-protection.html

Here's more information that may help you with buying:

We appreciate your understanding. If you have any concerns or questions, click "Customer Support" at the top of most eBay pages.

Thanks,

eBay

I open some cases for the following reasons-
-14k gold is not 14k gold, the seller is selling for his father in law and his father in law refused to co-operate.
- item arrived damaged due to poor packaging by Mail Dropoff place and the seller does not respond to email complaints.
-UPS driver left package outside my door and the packages was stained by spilled sauce from another package(onion bagel flavor) in his truck.
The package was open and content stolen ,my neighbor dog found the package!
We are waiting to hear from UPS.

It looks like two of the complaints are due to UPS, not the seller. Maybe you should ask UPS why they just leave them on doorstep, my UPS guy won't leave them unless I am home. Hard to see how it is the sellers fault if sauce spilled or contents stolen. Just my opinion.

I dont ship UPS,but I have received many packages shipped UPS.
From my own personal experience AS A BUYER,I will first notify the retailer and then UPS.
Why?
Because the retailer will ship a replacement and expected to collect the $$claim from UPS.
In this particular case, the retailer is an Ebay seller and the item in question is one of a kind $300,and UPS coverage is what $100? I dont think the seller has taken out additonal insurance with UPS or any online insurance coverage.
We are still waiting to hear from UPS,the stain from the broken sauce bottle is not an issue ,it is the missing merchandise inside the package.
I am out of $300 ,if UPS just offered $100 to settle the case, then I am out of 200 dollars.
Dont forget EBAY always said -it is the seller who has to deliver the goods in good order ,in this case the seller should have insured the item for 300 or he should go after UPS to receive more than 100 dollars.
The other case with the mail drop off place doing a poor job packing, the seller watched them packed and refused to respond to email as to how to settle the matter, thats irresponsibile !
Also with the third case where the seller is selling for his father in law and father in law refused to co-operate,thats not the buyer problem,it is a problem between the consignor and the consignee.

Hwahwa is right. It is the sellers responsibility until the package reaches its destination. May not seem fair, but those are the rules. If you do not insure & the package is lost or damaged, the seller must make it right.

seems like a high rate of problems for a buyer. if i wasn't a seller on eBay and didn't know better, I would say to hell with their website and find another venue like Amazon.

eBay wants all the glory on the backs of sellers. When their is a problem, it should be eBay that resolves it. This crap that they play both sides of the fence is BS.
