....if you offer free shipping on combined orders and the customers pays for each item without combining them first and you send them a refund on the shipping of the second item you don't get a refund on FVF.

The folks at eBay need to get themselves some guns and masks then come to my house, bust in the door and rob me proper.

I recently had to refund a buyer because the items did not combine correctly. Since I knew that eBay was not going to refund the extra FVFs, I refunded the overcharge MINUS the difference in the eBay FVFs.

why dont you change the policy to say discount shipping for multiple items ,that way it will allow you to be flexible as to how much you want to refund.

hwahwa The only snag I can come up with that one is getting dinged on my DSRs for shipping cost. It's hard enough to get folks to read AND understand the dumbed down item description let alone shipping terms.

I was going to put a disclaimer that read If items were not combined prior to payment there would be a refund of shipping less whatever PayPal per tranaction fee is plus eBays 11% on the shipping. I know eBay would never permit that verbage so how would you explain the upcharge.

I'm confused. Were both items with free shipping? If so, why refund for shipping when combined?

Bill,
I think she means free shipping on the second item.
I dont say anything about combined shipping discount ,but when they buy each separately and pay for full shipping on each item,I just hit the partial refund key on Paypal.
Sometimes they will ask first, then I will ask for their paypal email address and send them a Paypal invoice.
You cant micro manage every situation,FVF on shipping cant amount to a whole lot,so you just make an estimate and adjust your final shipping charge.
Dinging a seller DSR because they are not seeing more pennies saved, there are some out there, but they cant be in the majority.

hwahwa I be a he not a she..wait let me check, yep I still be a he LOL

I offer free shipping on additioanl items. When the buyer doesn't combine prior to payments it cost me additional .60 in paypal(.30) and eBay Shipping FVF fees (.30). Neither of which is refundable. I know that's not much but the fees are really starting to rack up. I had a buyer buy 5 items and pay for them without combining so thats another $2.40 in eBays pocket.

I am hoping with as much time as eBay spends in my pockets it'll start feeling good, but so far no warm fuzzy feeling.

I'm thinking FVF fees are for items sold that we don't get paid for, so under that rule if correct, eBay is under no obligation to issue you fvf credit for a sold item. I think in this situation I would either send the customer two packages or one package and keep the extra money.

Can you refund all his payments and then send him a combined invoice since now you know his paypal invoice email address.
Does Ebay know that his payments have been refunded so there should be no FVF on item and shipping?

If I refund both payments PayPal is still getting their transaction fee on both payments plus they would get that fee again on the third combined payment. It would be defeating the purpose and creating more work for too little. Which I am sure is what eBay wants.

Keep jacking the fees eBay and you to shall come to pass. Maybe not today or tomorrow but what goes around comes around.
