Just thought I'd stop by. I've been having itense computer grief (modem related, not hard drive related. The upgrade went smooth as a charm -- thanks, folks) so I really haven't been online. At the library now.

In case anyone is wondering, I do not live very far at all from the trade center. It just so happened that Monday night I stayed over at my girlfriend's and, well, I guess it was a better place to be.

I just want to say a couple of things. First of all, where New York got its bad reputation from I cannot imagine. The people of this city (and country, by extension) are amazing. It is literally amazing to see the millions of New Yorkers come together with what can only be described as love. Also, I particularly want to mention our mayor, Rudy Giuliani who is, to use the only appropriate word, magnificent. I can't begin to explain how amazing he is, how reassuring he is. He should be president.

Seeing on TV things like people quieing up to donate blood in Georgia and other places (overseas even) is really amazing. I know there hasn't been any love lost between New York and the rest of the country, it seemed. If the relationship could be described as love/ hate we're definitely feeling the love.

Anyway... hi.

----------------

PS Am I the only one who's noticed that CIA director George Tenet is MIA? How long do you think before he is forced to hand in his head on a platter?

Good to hear from you, James!
God forbid anything as horrific were to repeat itself, I'd choose to be surrounded by New Yorkers! Running a close second would be Chicago. IMHO, there is serious strength and unity around you!
Stand tall, James, and stay safe!

Hi james,

Glad you're still hanging in. I agree with you about Guiliani. I dislike the man -- (particularly his penchant for wearing those little baseball cap and jacket outfits) but he's sure handling this well.

Glad to see you're alright James It came as no surprise to me but I've been so impressed with the determination and backbone of the people of New York. It's a true inspiration to the rest of the country, imo.

Dear Jameso

Sooo happy to hear from you.

A good phrase for New Yorkers might be:

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

New Yorkers are a tough bunch, you have to be to live there. I tried it for 6 months and didn't have what it takes.
That heart that it takes to just get through the hustle and bustle serves them well in times like this.
They certainly are showing the world what they are made of.

James, Glad you are ok.
I agree about Mayor Giuliani of NYC. I saw him and your Governor speak and I was very impressed.
