How America acts in the face of adversity makes me proud.

That's such an awesome image... I took my twelve year old son around the city last night so that he could see all of the flags that have been raised. I think those images of patriotism and solidarity have helped him as much as anything else I or his dad have said to him.
Not paranoid anywhere else but here!

When I saw the picture on the right (posted I believe by nana....) the picture on the left is exactly what came to mind.
Those rescue workers are really something else, in more ways than one.

Raising the flag at the scene of destruction is ever so much more eloquent
than the fist with the middle finger raised, don't you think?!
Mine eyes have seen the glory......

Peter Jennings showed that picture on the news this afternoon. He said someone emailed it to him.

We've got plenty of gas, we've got plenty
of food, the only shortage being reported
by our local news is American Flags, all
the stores are sold out.

Uaru,
Thank you for posting the picture. I just watched the Coldstream Guards playing our national anthem. Are old farts, nearing retirement supposed to cry like babies? I hope so, because I did.
God help our president guide us thru this time, and God bless this great country.

I saw that also, very emotional. Peter Jennings
got emotional, so I think it's okay if the rest
of us got teary eyed.

I used the images from the Iwo Jima and WTC flag raising on a background of the US Flag to make a wallpaper for my computer.
I've made this in both 800x600 and 1024x768. If anyone wants it, email me at [email protected] and I'll send you the bmp. The file sizes are 1.5mb and 2.25mb in size, large because they are bitmaps so you can use them for wallpapers. I could make a different size if needed for those who run a different resolution.
Here's a small pic of what it looks like:

Don't worry, this old man never shed a tear till today.
Now many things seem to make the tear ducts turn on.

Deuce ~
My take on your picture: (I saw it as I scrolled down, a bit at a time...)
A cross, similar to those you see outside a church on Easter, draped ... with a flag amid the debris and destruction ... with a brilliant white light in the background.
Edited to add:
Perhaps God is reminding us He is here.
