It airs Wednesday nights at 9:00, immediately following the new "Enterprise" series, and is kind of a cross between "Men in Black" and "Kolchak: the Night Stalker". The basic premise is that monsters are real [whether they be gargoyles, mummies, the Boogeyman, what have you*], and a "special unit" of the Chicago is in charge of keeping them in line. Since most people don't believe in monsters, and would panic if they found out monsters were real, Special Unit 2's real purpose is kept secret. They have authority to step in and take over a case when appropriate, but none of the other policemen know what they actually do.
Anywho, I've been following the series since it premiered last year as a mid-season replacement, and so far I'm really enjoying it. I just wish I could figure out what type of car the two leads drive....
Anybody else watch/enjoy this show?
There's another, similarly themed show on the Sci-Fi Channel, BTW, called "The Chronicle" whose basic premise is that all the weird news stories covered by supermarket tabloids are actually real events, but for some reason I just haven't been able to get into it. I like the premise, but so far the acting and storylines just haven't engaged my interest.
