I get the best belly laughs from people who know me well enough to be able to poke fun at my faults. Can you laugh at yourself?

Yup. Sometimes I get pissed at mistakes that cost me time or money, but usually with enough distance, I can laugh at those as well. Of course, I live with Mr. Comedy himself - the guy's sense of humor is noticed almost everywhere we go so I've learned from a pro.

I laugh at myself all the time cause I can be a little dizzy at times. I think it was the late 70's that cause it.

I learned pretty early in life it was much more enjoyable having someone laugh with me than at me. I started off life as a very funny looking little tyke who was teased a bit about one thing or another. Truth be know, in retrospect, I was a strange little bird.
I was told once it was my "defense mechanism". I don't know about that, but I have learned that it is definitely better for me healthwise to laugh than to cry. My sinuses get clogged big time, if I cry. Laughing has just added a few lines around my eyes and mouth. I can live with that!
I have refined it over the years so hopefully I'm not quite as obnoxious as I was when I was younger. I try and incorporate humor into just about every area of my life. Even where some think it might not be appropriate. Those seem to be the areas I need it most.
I have also found that due to all the practice, most everything rolls off me "like water off a ducks back" and if you want to insult me, you have to tell me ahead of time that's your intention. Even then, I might not take your seriously.
