I don't know how to make this a link but I'm sure glad this isn't me. I admire the couples who can do this and raise them successfully without going nuts.!!!!http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/04/07/national/main505567.shtml
Wow! That would be a challenge that I can't even imagine! And add to that the good possibility that some of these children will have chronic health problems. The article indicated that doctors had told the couple the pregnancy could be aborted or reduced by four, giving the two remaining fetuses a better chance of survival.
Many controversial issues are involved in this situation including abortion and the responsibility of those in the medical field who manufacture and prescribe infertility drugs.

Coming from a town with the population of 12, I doubt he's the CEO of any big company. I'd like to find out how they've financially planned to support this many children. Or let me guess......they didn't plan but their future is in God's hands....or something like that....
P.S. Good Luck on your taxes Helen!

I would abort all but one or two. (I didn't read the link but I already know what this is about.) Why on earth would I want to produce a respiratory-distressed, physically, mentally, speech-impaired kid neglected by an overwhelmed depressed and/or alcoholic parent.

I thought Fertility Doctors only planted 4 viable eggs back into the mom. Why all these high numbers of multiple births? What's the most so far...8?
What if the Doctor takes out 20 eggs and all get fertilized? What if the couple is religious and thinks it's Gods plan that they all were fertilized?

Kraft, this was fertility drugs. The kids were all 1000 gms +, so the medical outcome might not be so gruesome.
The home environment is worrisome for multiples. I've seen premie triplets from birth to followup, and those moms have all had lots of help. With 6 normal babies, just the basics of changing, feeding and dressing will take up all of one person's time. Add in meds, any tube care and/or changes, and the care becomes catchup and haphazard. Premies are high maintenance. Long distance follow up care is hard to maintain, especially for 6.
There was a show on last year about the octuplets in wherever at 2 years old. They were like wild kids. You have the right to an informed opinion -Harlan Ellison
