Guy in the carraige has a bearskin hat on.
First fellow looks Turkish or Eastern European. In the crowd I think I see a Bobby hat.
The guard by the gate looks like an American Naval military police but is shouldering a bolt action that looks like a Mauser.

I would guess ethnic troops of the British Empire. In the era after WW I.

These feel like aristocratic family photos, the patriach of which I think is the guy descending those stairs. A friend thinks they are Egyptian because they are the only Arab-type people that would tolerate having women around all over. They guy I bought them from said one chap in the carriage was King of England.

The fellow in the carriage looks like George V who was king from 1910 to 1936.

It could also be Czar Nicholas although that seems unlikely.

George V and Czar Nicholas bore a striking resemblance to each other. Both were grandsons of Queen Victoria and favored the same kind of beards.

Irene,

How do you know these things, Oh-She-Who-Presumes-To-Know-All-Things? Sounds convincing!

Has anybody noticed EXTREMELY irrelevant posts from me in other threads? I've typed things, hit reply, go back to the thread and it's gone. When they're gone where do they go? If not to another thread I don't want to know and no wise-cracks please.

Short version now: Could the balding white-haired guy be the formerly exiled king of Afghanistan?
