That's great, Nycyn. I hope that as the price of operation goes down that the cost to ride doesn't go up. We have a relatively new subway here and it's a major expense for poor working people .
I've been on your subway and it scared the hell out of me. HaHaHa! So I'm happy that you will have an improved system soon!

The subway in DC is the best I have ever been on. Easy to get in and out, easy to buy tickets and lots of armed guards. I just won't use it anymmore because I figure it is a major target for terrorists.

It didn't look like you, Nycyn.
This is the propaganda about our subway in DC.
"Despite the high crime rates in the District, the Metro is perfectly safe. It is extremely rare to have a crime committed in the subway stations or trains. You really need not worry about going on the subway by yourself at 12:00 am, although you do need to worry about taking the subway much later than that - the last train leaves most stations between 11:40 pm and 12:00 am"
ROTFLOL!!!!!
The problem is that the metro goes through the high crime areas...like Anacostia. Even the cops don't go there..

That's an impressive goal to get 10 percent of electricity form green sources by 2005. without oil, coal or natural gas!
There are several houses here with solar systems on the roof. The only drawback to me is that there are very few windows.

I would be happy to use solar power but we live in condos and it is very hard to make any change without everyone in the whole complex doing exactly the same thing.
A single dweeling is a lot easier.
We might be able to go to a central fuel cell supplying all 72 units easier than a single home though.
