posted on September 12, 2002 02:08:47 PM newStocks drooped in late morning trade on Thursday as a surprise rise in weekly jobless claims exacerbated Wall Street's worries over possible war against Iraq and the health of the U.S. economy.The market had already opened down after the government said the number of Americans signing up for state unemployment benefits last week rose unexpectedly to the highest level in more than four months.
I think the "surprise" would be a drop in unemployment. Are these people on another planet ?
