Had a professor once who told this story to the class.
He brings in a large glass jar and pour in golf balls till they reach the top. "who in the class thinks the jar is full" asks the professor. Several students raise their hands. The professor grabs a bag of pebbles and pours them in while moving the jar around. " Now who thinks the jar is full ?" the professor asks as even more studens raise their hands. Then the professor takes out a bag of sand and pours in the sand. " ok, how about know ?" the rest raise their hands. Then the professors pops open two beers and pours them in the jar.
So whats the story here an eager young student asks. Well says the professor " the golf ball represent the important things in your like such as god and family , the pebbles they are the not as important things such as your job and career goals, while the sand represents the small joys of life such as golf, fishing etc....
If you put the not so imoportant things in your life first (the sand) then their is no room for the truly important things. (the golf balls) so be sure to keep true to what is really important and put them in you "jar of life firts"
Wow says the students but what about the beers. Oh said the professor that just goes to show you that no matter how full your life is there is always room for two more beers
