stopwhining - Strong opinions....but I've never claimed to have great wisdom.

I've never been one to discriminate based on weight. I think it just means there's more to love. And no, I don't consider myself 'fat'.

I hadn't paid attention to Stewart's having gained weight. Maybe it's the stress she's been under. I know women in my grief group share they're 'grazing' a lot when they didn't use to and putting on weight.

Darn it, Linda, sitting here yelling at you has made my butt bigger! (And if you don't laugh at that I'll whomp you one!)
Seriously, I popped in here because I think I've found one topic we can all have a good time with, and I want you, especially, to participate. It'll give us -- you and me -- a chance to swap news and opinions without rancor. Please?

i often wonder why people gain weight under stressful and physically demanding circumstances,do you ever notice when al gore and g bush were running for president, they did not lose weight,i know bush runs but gore gained weight.in the end he gained a lot.
back in the old old days, food is expensive, few can afford to indulge .
i was in japan one year and stayed at a so called business person hotel-aka budget hotel for japanese businessmen coming into toyko from smaller towns, the hotel serves a breakfast buffet and every one eats heartily but they do not overeat ,they do not waste food either.
they dont have artificial sweetener on the table and most of them are slim and fit.
today, japanese do not overeat, but then food is expensive in japan.
and think, most do not workout or belong to any health club

In the northeast, people usually put on some more pounds in the winter. Less active, sleep more. People under stress like Martha and Gore, probably kicks the all metabolism, adrenalin and pit-tuu-itary - into some overdrive frenzy and the body naturally starts hoarding fat in the cells. (Or so they theorize.)
