This is certainly good news for Ohio! Hopefully, this trend will spread throughout the country.
Company Plans To Build First Trash-To-Ethanol Plant In Ohio

June 18, 2004 - A Missouri-based company wants to build a plant that converts trash into ethanol –the first of its kind—in the Akron area, reported The Akron Beacon Journal.
Global American Energy Holding Co. wants to build the $75 million plant in Mogadore, and has already signed an agreement with the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority to issue bonds to build it.
The facility would convert nonrecyclable trash from the Akron area and process it into ethanol, a fuel additive for gasoline.
Company officials say they’ll contract with local trash haulers around northeast Ohio to dump trash at the facility, rather than into local landfills.
The company says the plant will take in about 600 tons of trash each day and produce 55,000 gallons of ethanol from the waste, according to The Beacon Journal.
The company hopes to expand the plant in the future to intake up to 1,800 tons of trash daily. The plant would hire 58 to 65 workers when it first opens, and then add about 150 more once the facility is fully running.
Ethanol is in increasing demand as a growing number of states ban the use of MTBE, another fuel additive that can cause water pollution.
Ohio has used ethanol for over 20 years and uses about 2 billion gallons a year of ethanol-blended gasoline.

That is good news Cheryl. I know Ohio is one of the states hardest with layoffs over the past few years.
Hopefully this will also cause America to be less dependent on foreign oil.

All animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others.
Change is constant. The history of mankind is about change. One set of beliefs is pushed aside by a new set. The old order is swept away by the new. If people become attached to the old order, they see their best interest in defending it. They become the losers. They become the old order and in turn are vulnerable. People who belong to the new order are winners.
