Now we really know who wore the pants in the Clinton White House
----------------------

U.S. yanked bribe plan to capture Bin Laden

WASHINGTON - U.S. officials scrapped a 1999 plan to offer the Taliban a $250 million bribe to turn over Osama Bin Laden, fearing then-First Lady Hillary Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright would object to paying off the infamous women's rights abusers.

Clinton had long criticized the Islamic regime in Afghanistan for covering women with burkas and denying them educations and jobs.

According to the final 9/11 commission report, Bill Clinton's administration had already made fruitless overtures to the Taliban, paying $10 million to $20 million annually in bribes.

"Two senior State Department officials suggested asking the Saudis to offer the Taliban $250 million for Bin Laden," the report said, citing a May 1999 memo. But White House terrorism czar Richard Clarke "opposed ... a 'huge grant to a regime as heinous as the Taliban' and suggested that the idea might not seem attractive to either Secretary Albright or First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton - both critics of the Taliban's record on women's rights."

"Sen. Clinton was a vocal critic of the heinous Taliban regime well before 9/11," said her spokesman, Philippe Reines.

LOL - figures....we've always known who wears the pants in that union.

They sure were into bribing. This offer and the bribe being paid to N. Korea while their administration was in charge.

Wonder how much money has been saved by not paying the 'bribe' money to NK and not having to patrol the northern and southern boarders of Iraq. There must be a savings in there somewhere.

So blairwitch - are you one of these 'we deserved' the 9-11 attacks??????

In answer to your question....not THIS President.

And clinton obviously wasn't interested in taking him even when he was offered on a silver platter.

Well, I'm renaming linda and Bear Ozzie and Harriet for their ancient, sexist, early 20th century views.

Who "wears the pants" went out with intelligent people when women got the vote!

Wonder who "wears the pants" in THEIR families?
What exactly does this mean...that women should be barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen? Like slaves? Oh, I forgot, neocons LIKE slavery.

Does it mean that women should just fetch the beer and keep their mouths shut? Never disagree with men???
What do you exactly do you mean?

So the SECRETARY of STATE and the First Lady didn't want to deal with terrorists....what nasty-ass people THEY must be.

They had the backbone to take an active stand and, of course, neocons fault this.

And, if you're going to bring up the 9/11 report the consensus by this NON-PARTISAN(do you know what that means?) committee is that Clinton and Bush should take equal blame and equal credit for their actions and non-actions.

Anybody can go through it and pick out good and bad things about each president and slant it towards their view.

We should be asking who trained Saddam since Bin Ladedn doesn't seem to be important to Bush administration.

Hi Linda_K, while talking about Clinton you said, "Wonder how much money has been saved by not paying the 'bribe' money to NK." In passing today didn't I hear something about Geo Bush is now ready to give BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in aid to N.Korea? Go ahead and research that news because I am not sure I heard the story right. I will wait to hear your spin on it. I am not kidding I really hope I heard wrong about U.S. aid to N.Korea.

I don't know what you heard or what you didn't hear. That's a pretty silly question to ask me.

Go ahead and research that news because I am not sure I heard the story right.

Well then, posibably you can do your own research to verify what YOU heard.

I will wait to hear your spin on it.

I'll wait until you know what you're talking about in the first place....after you've verified it for yourself. Then I might respond. No promises though.

Linda_K, About your post of what Clinton did years ago. I don't spend much time on the past. I worry about what Geo Bush and Dick Cheney are doing currently. Without dwelling in the past, I would think a very vocal smart gal like you should stay current. About me asking you to research if Bush is pushing to give N.Korea billions of dollars in U.S. aid. I just thought you are so good at researching and (COPY AND PASTE) it would be a snap for you to get current about on going Bush/Cheney policies of today.

crowfarm, I feel a little bad and I repeat a "LITTLE BAD" for people like Linda_K. She tries so hard but just can't face up to and truthfully defend what her failed leaders have and are doing to this wonderful country NOW.

Some people see a turd for what it is.. a piece of stinky sh!t...others think there might be gold hidden inside of it and they embrace it.

Some will say the turd is not really a turd. They will defend the turd at all costs until one day all the others who can't stand turds go somewhere else.

When you hug a turd the only thing you get is an armful of sh!t.

Sad but true.

With a little variety even Harriet might appear more human.

A few years ago, I posted in someone's poetry thread....Candy's dandy but Liquor's quicker. The woman who started that thread is STILL angry about that and reads my every word. Apparently she has fits of jealousy based on the fact that I can remember such nonsense. I have a library of poetry but for some strange reason chose to post that one.

BTW, my little ditty about turds should be read with George W. Bush in mind.

Forget it Linda, what is the point of being polite to a shriveled up manifestation of negative energy. You advocate war on those you disagree with and on those you view as the underclass in this nation. Yet you feel you deserve some sort of polite respect. You're kidding. As long as you insist on stripping the rights of your fellow citizens and support the slaughter of countless innocents around the world you are fair game. A pimple on the rectum of humanity.
