Doing some research for one of the peanut's school projects...(I can't believe what they have the kids doing!!!)
Anyone have the name and location of the third big mountain range in Mexico? I have (Sierra Madre) Occidental, and Oriental, and have used various atlas' and globes, yet I can't locate the third.

The Sierra Madre Occidental to the west & the Sierra Madre Oriental to the east mee tin the southeast and form the Sierra Madre del Sur. According to my Microsoft Virtual Globe geographic reference, this is a maze of volcanic peaks & the highest in Mexico.

Thank you, Bunnicula!!
My 8 yr old is doing a project for school which entails labelling various mountain ranges, lakes, and rivers in Latin America. I am amazed at the variations between different geographical references.

This reminded me of my own example of a hard problem posed to me as a kid.
In 5th grade we used baking soda to neutralize vinegar's acid nature. When boiled off to a powder, what is the resulting white chemical crystals??
Needless to say Dummy Ignorant Southern Nutspec found it hard. Ran home as fast as his barefeet could carry him and took it to his Pa - who looked at it and said it was too many for him to cipher out. So he took me to his University where he was a Doctoral candidate and we asked his Biochemistry professor, who looked at it with great trepidation and asked what grade I was in again? After a few calls, he explained it to me in terms a 5th grader MIGHT understand.
Oh the answer? Acidic Acetate
But it does show that the hard questions and their answers stay with you. It's better to have a kid using their mind on the hard questions sometimes.
