We live very near a major on ramp for our town. I probably use this on ramp 75% of the time I leave my house. It gives access to two major highways for us, an East/West one, and a North/South one.
The ramp is closed, for the next 9 months, while they repair/reorganize the bridge and two adjoining on ramps. They are totally tearing out the bridge. When they finish the "on ramp", the other side will then be closed for the same amount of time.

Care if I one-up-ya?
When I saw your title I thought you just might be from Utah, where I live.
We are hosting the olympics here in a year (boo!) and 3 years ago someone decided we needed ALL our freeways overhauled and new ones built. One by one everything was closed. The main freeway into down town was the first to go and it just reopened a while back, after 3 long years.
If you were dumb enough to get on any given freeway, without checking what was closed first, you are either diverted onto a temp. freeway, not necessarily in the same direction or you encounter a huge road block and a sign saying exit now, either way there WILL be a traffic jam. Makes me feel like I am living in California again. Hard to keep up with the openings and closings.
These temp. freeways they built while completing the main freeways were a joke. There was no shoulder, AT ALL. If you ran out of gas or your car broke down you are so screwed. Cars are traveling 50-60 MPH and a car dies in the lane of traffic with no where to pull off, terrifying. There have been several people killed because of this. I was too scared to take the freeways because of this.
On the lighter side of this mess those of us who are always late for everything have a great excuse for our tardiness.
