Well, you're lucky. I can't go. It's raining here and they're predicting thunder and lightning storms. Not safe to play outside here today.

I have already make my round of the park this morning and played with the squirrels/ducks and saw a nice blue heron.

okay, okay! I heard ya! LOL...went out this morning and got the dirt under my fingernails (thank goodness for nail polish!)
Trying something new this year: strawberries. I have absolutely no clue on what I am suppose to do, but I stuck them in the dirt. That's a start, right?
Now I have the broccoli, tomatos, & peppers to get in and, yep, here I sit.
Poor Linda...hope it clears soon for you. Please don't tell me you are west of Ohio...I don't want that rain YET! LOL
Gravid....sounds like you had the start of a wonderful day.
Okee Dokie....back out for me!
Edited to say..nice thread bits!

Oh, I'd love to get out...But tomorrow is 3of3's birthday & there's lots to do!!!...Someone get some sun for me please!!!
nanastuff...I bought strawberry plants this year too! (my first time)...info I found on the web said that you should NOT let the plants fruit there first year..You should pull off all the blooms BEFORE they become strawberries..By doing that next year you will have a good crop. If you don't next year's crop will not be very fruitful!...Good Luck with 'em!

My first time too, for strawberry plants. Someone gave them to me. You may very well be right rancher24, but I'll be lucky to get them to survive one season. I'm gonna take my chances with what I get. LOL
Edited to add:bitsandbobs is right. It's time to go outside. Bye y'all

I heard a rumor that Al Gore just invented INTERNET 2. Man, that recess was short. All voice-generated = no carpal tunnel syndrome! Total realtime video = less trash talk? or many disguises?

I planted strawberries a couple of years ago. They were relatively low maintenance. The only problem was the cat next door ate them off the plants.

Well, I have ALMOST everything in...had to fence up the broccoli cause rabbits are everywhere. Now to the strawberries...the ones I planted already have berries on them and a couple just since this morning are turning red. Am I suppose to take ALL those berries off?? Oh no! The ones I planted are called JuneBearing. I think I will just leave them on; hubby doesn't care what I plant, but on these he actually perked up a little LOL! Hey, I didn't know cats like strawberries..we have several strays around here. They are too cute to get too mad at!!

nanastuff - This is typical here for this time of year. Lot's of thunderstorms and lightning.
Another hint to all you strawberry (yum) gardeners. Be sure to cover your crops with some light-weight mesh to keep the birds from enjoying your crop. Birds love strawberries and their red skin really attracts them. Trust me.
