I purchased a used Stamps.com 5-lb. scale and I'm having trouble getting it to work. Upon being turned on the display stays at - - - - and does not go to zero. I have checked that it is on a level surface. There is no mention of this problem in the instruction pages. This is a stand-alone scale, not one that plugs into the computer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a different scale than you do, but I suspect that your scale needs to be recalibrated. Mine started acting goofy (telling me that a regular first class letter was overweight limit which is 10 pounds on my scale, etc.) The tech at Stamps.com was really great about walking me through the recalibration procedure (not hard to do ) and even e-mailed me a set of instruction on how to do it again should I ever need to do it. I'd give Stamps.com a call. They are really great.

I never could get mine recalibrated. The techs 'threw up their hands', and it wasn't under warranty of course, since I bought it through eBay (it did work when I got it, stopped working when I had to change the batteries. That's actually the reason I tried PitneyBowes one-click Internet stamp program--free scale. Now, I'm just waiting for it and using both stamps.com and pitneybowes for internet postage. Miss my stamps.com scale tho! Let me know if you're successful, and who you talked to, maybe I can give him/her a try.
