I just want to thank Paypal for pushing me out the door, right into Billpoint's arms. At first I was upset with all of the paypal changes, lack of professionalism, lack of accurate info, etc. But they pushed and pushed, and I became so frustrated that I finally started using Billpoint. At first I was not a happy camper, but in a short period of time I discovered how wonder Billpoint is.
Now for the best part. Here are my fees for Billpoint: Amount Credit Card Transaction Fee for US finds. International is 1% higher
As I stated in another post, customers want as many payment options as possible; they don't want to be limited. If I used only paypal I would loose bidders. My bidders actually increased after I added Billpoint.
As for the 1.9% cash back for using Paypal's credit cards - that's almost 2 cents per $100. The amount of higher bids since adding Billpoint is much more than that!

The cashback is 1.5%, and your math needs attention.
PS: You forgot to include BillPoint's non-optional deposit fees.

One thing that you missed is that effective 7/14/01, PayPal is instituting a two-tier fee structure:
"In order to continue providing enhanced services such as chargeback
protection and our cashback program, PayPal will introduce two
pricing tiers for our Premier and Business accounts effective July
14, 2001. The Standard Rate for receiving payments will be 2.9% +
30¢. Following industry practices, we will offer a Merchant Rate of
2.2% + 30¢ to members who have received an average of over $1,000
per month and who have been with PayPal for at least three months."

Paypal is great. I get my money fast and dont have to wait for payment. I qualify for the 2.2%, the extra .30 cents does suck, why do they have it in the first place.
Just had to increase my opening bid and shipping a little to cover my expenses.

Except for a couple of Paypal employees and a very few others, most people in here hate paypal or are coming here to complain about a problem. Not many come here simply to blow smoke up their butt, but a few do.
I qualify for both merchant accounts and I much prefer billpoint because I have a lot of under $15.00 transactions. Every time I want to send money I use billpoint cause I do not have to empty my account to use the credit card portion. PayPal has already taken me once cause I used non credit card funds. That will never happen again.
The company PayPal is just another leach on a sellers back. I feel sorry for the smaller sellers that are getting hit again with another rate increase in 40-45 days it has been.

BillPoint fees may be higher, but PayPal is worthless in fraud protection:
I paid for a purchase (direct purchase, not an auction) via PayPal. Both the Seller and I are Verified PayPal members. The Seller did not ship the goods as promised. Needless to say, PayPal has not recovered my money from the Seller, here are their exact statements:
"PayPal has concluded the investigation of your Buyer Complaint. As our
policy states, we conducted this investigation on a best effort basis and
made no guarantee of funds recovery."
"Our investigation has revealed that the seller is at fault, as a result you
are due a refund. However, we regret to inform you that we were unable to
recover funds from the sellers account, as the seller's account balance is
$0."
Can someone please tell me just what good PayPal is if they cannot even guard their members against fraud from other members?
What the h**l good are the high fees paid to them?
I highly recommened, to everyone, to stop using PayPal: there has to be a better alternative for both Buyers and Sellers.
To top it all off, PayPal couldn't even get my transaction # correct & sent me information on someone elses failure to recover funds - how many more of us are out there?
I do not know if BillPoint is the best, but anything is better than PayPal.

have any of you that are bitching about paypals fees ever had a real merchant account that you could accept CC ? well if you did you would know that most charge any where from 2.5% to 4% not to mention that it cost hundreds of dollars just to get a merchant account paypal is cheap when you look at the real world of CC

Yep, Billpoint is a great service until you get a chargeback (in my case a misused card) and learn that they don't respond to calls/emails, provide little or no info, don't defend you worth squat, and profit off your misery to the tune of $10 (+the original fee). Everything purchased through Billpoint is potentially free at the seller's expense.
I'm going back to PayPal Preferred: no $10 fee, at least I have an inkling if the address doesn't match the card, PayPal doesn't hide their contact info, immediate access to my funds, at least the hint of some seller protection (I know its not perfect), many options for automatically refusing certain types of payments.
I have great feedback and sell real merchandise (not e-gold or other such nonsense) and always work to satisfy my customers. For me at least PayPal is the best most flexible option. They are also integrated into several of the web based management services so that payments can be made directly from an online checkout.
I have always been pretty pleased with Billpoint even more so when they recently upgraded my account, but all you have to do is look at the eBay Billpoint board to see that they aren't so great when a buyer commits fraud.
Also remember that they tell you flat out that they will loot your checking account when you lose (and you will) the chargeback lottery.
