I used paypal this week and they have withdrawn from my bank account and my credit card. The transaction history on paypal only shows a withdrawal on one account but both banks clearly have withdrawals made from them.
I have emailed customer service but I would like quicker resoloution. Does anyone know of a phone number for paypal customer service?

I suggest you write [email protected] he expedites solutions. Just guessing here but is the credit card you have on file a Visa or MasterCard debit card? If that is the case and you made an "instant payment" as opposed to a credit card, or eCheck payment it would pay from your bank account but it would also use funds in the debit card's account as security.

Hi billbethlee,
It sounds like you used the instant payment option, which will initiate a bank withdrawal (for paying with a bank account) for you, but makes the funds available immediately (without the 2-5 business day wait) by securing it against the credit card/debit card on file.
Users have to change the payment method on the send money screen, as the default is set to pay in this manner.

Thanks, that makes sense. Will the money credit back against the credit card after the transaction clears the bank?
That is correct. The hold will not result in a charge to the card if the bank item clears. Please bear in mind that the hold on the card drops off in 7-30 days (depending on the bank).
