Not enough space to type in the title, but the last two days I have noticed the when I have used my debit card, that when the transactions go from pending to completed, that they are also still remaining pending this twice the amount of money is being kept on hold.

For instance, I used the Debit card as a CC at the post office on 9-18, the charge of $11.40 was pending. Today, 9-22 I have a completed charge to the post office in the amount of $11.40, and since I only used it once this week and since it matches the correct amount, I know this is the charge I made on the 18th.

Well I also see the pending charge from the 18th is still pending, thus my account is short by $11.40.

This is just a refernce, I have other charges that are both completed and pending thus locking up more funds should be.

I am seriously considering not using it as a CC any more, this could have sent me over my available funds in there if I didn't always keep a balance and I don't need that.

dannkim,
I think that this is PayPal's policy.

But it never used to happen, it used to be once the transaction went to completed, the pending transaction was removed. Now they are all completed, but are all still pending as well, so basically they are now have double the money until they release the pending funds.

THIS is happening to me too & I'm pissed, thought it was a fluke the first time. But now this is stupid, so basically the pending amout SUBTRACTS from your ACCOUNT... So now I have a NEGATIVE balance... AND I still have pending transactions,

THIS IS DOUBLE DIPPING.

This needs to be addressed immediately, or else I'm dropping the PAYPAL Preferred, Debit Card & going back to TRANSFERRING my FUNDS to my Wells Fargo Checking account as sooon as they hit my PAYPAL account.

PAYPAL is CURRENTLY HOLDING $77.71 of my MONEY that should be mine. COME ON RELEASE it now, or BBB here I come.

Hi all,

Due to a technical glitch with our debit card processor, debit card authorizations (a.k.a. Debit Card Purchase Pending line items) would not drop once a settlement was posted to the transaction log. This resulted in a temporary duplicate debit for our customers. We have fixed the problem. Customers should no longer see a duplicate transaction and all funds will be automatically restored to the account

Customers should note that any remaining duplicate postings in their transaction history will be automatically dropped after 3 days. We realizes this ties up your funds artificially and thank you for your patience as we upgrade our systems.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

Just some more information on the debit card issue...

We are continuing to work on the debit card duplicate hold issue. Engineering has estimated that this glitch will be fixed by Tuesday, September 25 10am PDT. At that time, all duplicate holds on funds will be automatically dropped. This problem occurred as a result of a system updgrade and all holds would naturally expire after 4 days. However, the engineering fix should speed up the dropping of duplicate holds. Additionally, this issue should not happen again as our system upgrade is complete.
