paypal account ******* Damon These charges (SEE CHARGES BELOW) have been taken twice from my account. these are paypal card transactions. These transactions were deducted from my paypal balance at the time of the original charges during the week. Now in some computer glitch these charges have been taken from my account again leaving me with a $1200 negative balance. I have cancelled my paypal card because you guys cant seem to get this fixed. my business cant afford to pay twice for items. I am requesting an investigation into this matter and these funds to be replaced to my account. Please have someone call me at ***** to help resolve this matter. I will not use the paypal debit card ever again as this is not right. My paypal card was not even active when these charges came through Sept 22,2001. Sorry I am a little upset this continues to happen. This is what I am seeing. For example i make a purchase on Tuesday or Wenesday for these items and paypal oks the charges as the funds are there in the account and the funds are deducted at that time and the transaction is marked pending. Keep in mind your firm has allready taken the funds from my paypal balance on the day of the orignal charge when it was pending. Then when the transaction is completed the paypal system zaps my account again for the same funds they zapped when it was a pending transaction thus leaving me with a negative balance. I even cancelled my card so how do you keep doing this? I just want the funds replaced asap as this is not right. if you have any questions please call ******

THIS is happening to me too & I'm pissed, thought it was a fluke the first time. But now this is stupid, so basically the pending amout SUBTRACTS from your ACCOUNT... So now I have a NEGATIVE balance... AND I still have pending transactions,

THIS IS DOUBLE DIPPING.

This needs to be addressed immediately, or else I'm dropping the PAYPAL Preferred, Debit Card & going back to TRANSFERRING my FUNDS to my Wells Fargo Checking account as sooon as they hit my PAYPAL account.

PAYPAL is CURRENTLY HOLDING $77.71 of my MONEY that should be mine. COME ON RELEASE it now, or BBB here I come.

And there is another thread in the ebay section:

PayPal RIP OFF

We are not the only ones, it seems to be a problem for many.

Happening to me too...I'm $60 IN THE NEGATIVE with another pending transaction to go.

I need my $60 credited back....before Monday at 4 p.m. when I make my bank deposits. I posted in the "PAYPAL RIPOFF" thread on the main eBay board as well.

Isn't it just convenient that all this happens to EVERYONE on a weekend when PayPal is conveniently out of the offce, not taking calls??? My money is being held hostage?

I had a problem once when my Wells Fargo Debit card came back declined (I was in the middle of NOWHERE & had found a PS/2..back right after they came out).. I called Wells Fargo 24/7 800 line, the teller assured me that the system would be back up in 1/2 an hour, so I sat at the register, 1/2 an hour & sure enough.. My card went through.

Everyone,

Please relax a bit. I think you will find this is a Visa/Mastercard process, to authorize and than complete the transaction. I have seen this in the transaction details of my internet bank (two accounts I have had over time), my local bank, my credit union, and PayPal. The Authorization will "expire", the one charge will remain, and all will be well.

I am not sure PayPal can control this.....

FWIW, PayPal announced sometime ago a change in the Support hours.

The problem is that Paypal has never done it this way before, thus causing many of us an inconvenience at the least.

Paypal has always done the completed and removed the pending at the same time, up until a day or so ago, that is the problem, not with how visa/mastercard do it, it's how paypal has always done it, which is now different and with no advance warning to those of us who may have needed that money for the weekend and the fact that they conveniently took the weekend off.

I just went into my account and I still am upside down by $1200. Here is what I have discovered.
On Sept 20,2001 I made $152.11 debit card purchase with the following iD 14b9758214832980v and as of today my account till shows this charge pending and they took the funds from my account Sept 20 when the charge was authorized. Then on Sept 22 the transaction was assigned a new transaction number of 145688762w835333k and the funds deducted from my account again and the transaction shows completed. PAYPAL IS EVEN ASSIGNING NEW TRANSACTION NUMBERS WHEN THESE THINGS GO COMPLETED TO FURTHER CONFUSE US. I HAVE 4 PRINTED TRANSACTIONS WITH THE SAME STORY LINE ABOVE TOTALLING $1200 IN DOUBLE DIPPIN BY PAYPAL. I HAVE IT ON PAPER AND CAN CLEARLY DOCUMENT THIS IF NEED BE. I hope to hear paypal will resolve this Monday instead of giving us the Internet Double Hogwash Story Lines. I would suggest all refrain from using debit card and let your normal bank handle all of your debit card transactions.

Hi all,

Due to a technical glitch with our debit card processor, debit card authorizations (a.k.a. Debit Card Purchase Pending line items) would not drop once a settlement was posted to the transaction log. This resulted in a temporary duplicate debit for our customers. We have fixed the problem. Customers should no longer see a duplicate transaction and all funds will be automatically restored to the account.

Customers should note that any remaining duplicate postings in their transaction history will be automatically dropped after 3 days. We realizes this ties up your funds artificially and thank you for your patience as we upgrade our systems.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

Just some more information on the debit card issue...

We are continuing to work on the debit card duplicate hold issue. Engineering has estimated that this glitch will be fixed by Tuesday, September 25 10am PDT. At that time, all duplicate holds on funds will be automatically dropped. This problem occurred as a result of a system updgrade and all holds would naturally expire after 4 days. However, the engineering fix should speed up the dropping of duplicate holds. Additionally, this issue should not happen again as our system upgrade is complete.
