I think Yahoo has to have an FLD every 4 months or risk losing the seller inventories that are stored on their site. The inventories may be deleted by Yahoo if the auctions are not listed at least once in a 4 month period. Since few sellers list but many have inventories stored on Yahoo the FLDs allow the sellers to get in the minimum listing requirement to retain their auctions.
If a seller uses a bulk loader it doesn't matter but many sellers do not use bulk loaders.

I love reading the responses to the Yahoo FLD postings over at OTWA. Most say they had no sales or nothing but deadbeats last time.

What they need is a FLD every 2 months. They did that once and the listings went up to almost a million, and then they stopped. Last one was may so hopefully they will keep it up. Last FLD I purchased some nice items.

This time around, it maybe a little slow. I think the free listings are an attempt to get sales moving again. Trouble is, this is the slow time for auctions. The last FLD I did well and no deadbeats, but I thing this one may not do as well. But, it is free so why not at least try?
